Protocol question

Maybe you have noticed. On our menu we have a special waffle called the "Liege Cinnamon Royal". We called it "royal" because we thought that Albert II, the King of Belgium, likes ‘m like this - "served by the Wafel-Master on a silver plate while serenaded by Flemish Virgins."

In the past few days, the Belgian media has taken notice of our menu, and especially of the Flemish Virgins (the media must not be very busy - we haven't had a government for over 6 months now). Journalists now want to know whether this really is the favorite waffle of King Albert II. There is only one way to find out:

"Dear King Albert & Queen Paola,

How have you been? It's been 11 years since I left Belgium, and I know I haven't been very good at observing the national holidays. So, sorry about that.

But now we have these Belgian journalists bugging us to find out if you really dig the Liege Cinnamon Royal that much. May I invite you and your lovely wife Paola come on down for a visit to Soho and check out the goods for yourselves. We would love to have you both for some Wafels and Dinges, and maybe you can bring the cute princess Mathilde along too. Please leave the princes Philippe and Laurent at home and tell them to get a government up and running while you take some nice time off. Good practice for the boys.

Let us know if there is any protocol involved in royal waffle eating...or maybe our readers have some suggestions?"

Nationale feestdag was dus gisteren ;-). We lazen een artikel in Het Laatste Nieuws: geweldig initiatief. En hilarisch: Wafels en dinges... Beer-creek. Anyway, ik weet waar ik zin in heb gekregen: wafels ! Good luck !

Hi, Given that most of the european royalty are related/inter-married why not ask other kings/queens/princes to support your cause - they need something constructive to do (;-))

A Royal Protocol for eating waffles? NO WAY ! Imagine they start touching our delicacies with silver knife and fork ...
BTW. We've had the Belgian Prince and Princess on a visit here in Beijing. During the reception, plenty of french fries available, as well as a chocolate fountain ... BUT no waffles! (or maybe Filip ate them all before the guests/public/plebs arrived)

Albert is not 'King of Belgium', but 'King of the Belgians'.
