If you wonder why waffles are such a big deal in Belgium, just look at our government (or the lack thereof).
Belgium had its last election on June 10, 2007, more than four hundred days ago. The Flemish (in the North) and the Walloons (in the South) have been waffling ever since on the formation of a new government agenda. Yesterday the interim prime-minister (in charge of getting both sides to talk) threw in the towel and went to see our beloved King. His message to King Albert was: "Fuggetaboutit - ain't gonna work". Now the King has to figure out how to keep the country from falling apart. Like George Bush so insightfully said about his presidency: "It's a lotta hard work".
